Venture Capital Sees Double Digit Growth

Updated: Sep 9, 2022

Venture capital assets under management (AuM) have experienced double digit annual growth in the 20 to 30 per cent+ range over the past four years, says Preqin’s ‘Q1 2022 Venture Capital Report.’ AuM now stand at a record high of $2 trillion. As the venture capital market matures, 14 per cent of institutional investors are planning to commit $600 million or more over the next 12 months, up from 10 per cent during the same period last year. This is the only category that recorded more than one per cent year-on-year growth. Confidence remains highest in the North American and European markets. There has been a noticeable uptick in the proportion of investors targeting these regions, increasing from 53 per cent to 59 per cent, and 52 per cent to 60 per cent, respectively.
