VC Deals Break Records

Updated: Sep 9, 2022

Canadian venture capital (VC) deals broke records, largely in information technology, says Preqin. Its ‘Canada Venture Capital Factsheet’ shows the average deal size in 2021 increased 112 per cent from 2020’s average deal size. While VC deals made in Canada broke records in 2021, the increase in aggregate deal value was disproportionately large. The average deal size in 2021 hit $24 million with a change of 112 per cent up from 2020’s average deal size. These VC deals were largely in information technology, as in 2020, with a noticeable dip in deal flow within healthcare.
