Setting Of Net-Zero Targets For Assets Growing

Updated: Sep 9, 2022

Asset managers are continuing to set net-zero targets for an increasing amount of assets, says a progress report by the Net Zero Asset Managers initiative. It says so far, 84 asset managers have set initial targets covering 39 per cent of their assets, up from 35 per cent of assets covered in the first round of targets released in November, and 43 have disclosed those targets. Some managers, including AXA Investment Managers and Wellington Management, have increased initial targets more dramatically. AXA’s target now covers 65 per cent of assets, up from 15 per cent in November, and Wellington’s target covers 32.4 per cent up from 10.6 per cent. “We have also seen 19 managers commit more than 75 per cent of their assets and 30 exceed 50 per cent,” the report said. “Those unable to commit 100 per cent at present, due to business model or methodology changes, have provided information on plans to increase their proportions of assets to be managed in line with net zero.”
