More Women In Senior Positions

The representation of women in senior positions such as C-suite, chairs, directors, and founders across the alternative assets industry has increased by 0.7 per cent over the past 12 months from 12.9 per cent in January 2022 to 13.6 per cent in January 2023, says Preqin’s ‘Women in Alternatives 2023’ report. It also found, however, that the proportion of female representation decreases significantly further up the corporate ladder, from 32.5 per cent in junior positions, down to 25.2 per cent in mid-level, and 13.6 per cent at the senior level. Those statistics decline even further in board membership. As of January 2023, women account for 21.3 per cent of total employees working in alternatives globally. This is a marginal improvement from the 20.9 per cent in January 2022. North America holds the highest proportion of women working in the industry at 22.3 per cent, the only region with a percentage higher than the global average.
