Global Infrastructure Has Active Quarter

Updated: Sep 9, 2022

Global infrastructure funds demonstrated their most active fundraising quarter to start 2022. Preqin’s ‘Q1 2022 Infrastructure Quarterly Report’ shows infrastructure funds reached a new high of capital in the quarter. In the quarter, they secured $70 billion of capital through 20 funds, delivering a record quarter in capital raised, 42 per cent higher than the previous peak in the fourth quarter of 2019. This is in part driven by two particularly large mega funds which raised $31 billion. Their closing, and the lack of any funds in market targeting more than $12.5 billion, suggests the rest of the year could be quieter after this busy quarter, says the report.
