Median EAFE equity managers had a strong fourth return of 15 per cent, however they underperformed their benchmark by 0.7 per cent, says Elegant Investment Solutions, Inc. A pull back in energy prices helped the EAFE sector companies, who had been heavily impacted by Russia-Ukraine conflict. All sectors posted positive returns in the quarter with financials, materials, and energy companies leading the gains. Emerging markets also rebounded in the quarter as the U.S. dollar weakened and commodities prices rose. The median emerging markets equity manager’s return of 8.9 per cent beat the benchmark by 0.4 per cent in the quarter.
